Documentation and Film

IRRI is looking for a talented and passionate film student to develop a short film about our technologies, why they are needed, what they can be used for, and how they work. We offer our renewable energy and resource saving technologies to low income families across Mexico. The goal of the film is to increase awareness about our work and why our technologies are needed for low-income families across Mexico.  This intern will also work on designing promotional items. This position also requires someone with good knowledge of animations to create different animated videos about Mexico’s water system, which will be used as educational material. The intern does not need to have knowledge of any of the scientific or humanitarian work that we do, since all required information and material would be provided.  Some ideas include making 90 second inspirational films about Isla Urbana and Biobolsa, instructional maintenance DVDs, or fundraising videos,

Desired skills:

  • Conversational level in Spanish
  • Video and sound editing abilities
  • Knowledge of pre and post production
  • Creativity and ability to independently create videos, animations, and manuals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Help conceive and plan a video project.
  • Edit existing video footage as well as filming, editing, and producing new videos.
  • Conduct interviews with project leaders and our clients.
  • Document installations, community meetings and follow up visits.
  • Edit video and sound, [you may receive assistance with sound editing if needed].
  • Animating short informational clips about how our technology works and the ecological processes impacted by current resource use.
